Dear Armonk United Parents,

As many of you know, Castleford Rovers is not offering a U8 travel program for the upcoming 2018 - 2019 season.

Since learning of this decision, the Armonk United management board has been hard at work developing a new and exciting set of options to meet the needs of our current U7 families. What follows is a summary of our new U8 programs. After reading the details below, please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.

Please note that we are actively searching for new volunteers to join our management board. While we are excited to announce these changes at U8, we do not have volunteer division coordinators to lead this division administratively. Without parents stepping up to help us with both U8 Core & U8 Developmental, we will be unable to put these plans into action. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer to help.

U8 Core:

Armonk United will continue to offer our traditional U8 Core Recreational Program. This highly successful and time-tested program will feature the following components:

·      1-hour practice on Saturday morning with professional trainers
·      1-hour Sunday afternoon game (4 v 4) against in-house competition with parent coaches
·      Registration cost includes a 9-week Fall season, a 9-week Spring season, and the full Armonk United uniform
·      Optional supplemental academy clinics in Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons at an additional registration cost

The cost of the core program will be $415 for registrations prior to July 1^st and $500 for registrations after July 1^st. Armonk United will continue to offer a $50 sibling discount for families with more than one child in our program.

U8 Developmental:

For those families that are prepared to commit more time to soccer on a weekly basis and whose children are ready for greater competition, we are excited to announce our new U8 Developmental Program by selection only.  This program will feature the following components:

·      2 practices per week with professional trainers
·      1 game per week on either Saturday or Sunday (4 v 4) against local competition with both a professional trainer and parent coach on-site
·      Registration cost includes a 10-week Fall practice & game season, a 10-week Winter practice season, a 10-week Spring practice & game season, and the full Armonk United uniform

The cost of the developmental program will be $1200. A $50 sibling discount will continue to be offered for families with more than one child in our program.

Selection Process for U8 Developmental Program:

Families that wish to have their children considered for the U8 Developmental Program must send an email to [email protected] expressing those intentions no later than Friday, May 11^th. The list of interested players will be sent to our Director of Coaching and professional training staff. Players will be given a four-week informal, continual assessment (May 12, May 19, June 2, and June 9). Players selected for this program will be notified by email in mid-June and given 24-hours to complete their online registration. Players selected in June will be guaranteed a spot in this program for the full year (Fall, Winter, Spring).

Players that are not selected for this program in June will be assessed further throughout the Fall season. Acknowledging that children develop at different rates and that significant changes in skill level can occur over the summer months, we plan to increase the roster size at the end of the Fall season with additional developmental-ready players. Players selected in November will receive a pro-rated registration cost for participation in the Winter and Spring seasons.
